Music I Might Never Listen to Again (November 2025 Reviews)
Each of these albums, EPs, playlists, or projects was an experience that I had been meaning to have for months, or since very recently after they came across my radar. While all of this music is special, vibrant, and full of talent, I’m not sure when I will decide to sit down and listen to it again. I wanted to pass along my reviews and recommendations for each piece, in the hopes that someone might have a more consistent connection with one, multiple, or all of these tracks moving forward. Enjoy!
This album accompanied me while I sat in Student Building and wondered why my shapefiles weren’t projecting correctly onto my maps. Despite my distress at this obstacle, this album offered soft and settling guitar riffs and loops which sound exactly as the artist’s name predicts. It felt homey, cozy, and approachable. I’m glad I listened to this project while fall is at its peak, and I recommend anyone else do the same.
These invigorating and dynamic tracks are from the anime Blue Submarine No. 6. Admittedly, this 90’s anime is not the most memorable or interesting, but its unique use of CGI and spectacular jazz OST shouldn’t be glossed over! These songs are adventurous, exciting, and a prime example of the magic that occurs between music and television.
If you know me, you know that I love to find good music in Spanish across all genres. This album feels seasonal, comforting, bright, and fresh. It contains brilliant little tracks which transport you to a world of its own design. This project has a quiet confidence and makes you feel extraterrestrial among the steady rhythms and magical string melodies.
The snow is starting to come down, and it’s a constant reminder that the mundane moments are what make life so beautiful. Allow this YouTube playlist to accompany your chilly thoughts during finals or the seasonal breaks from school. I found that these tracks added a sonic kick to the world around me as I shivered through the flurries. If you need background music to romanticize daylight savings and cloudy mornings, this will be your ticket.
If you’ve never heard the work of Nala Sinephro, you’re certainly missing out. I’ve been enamored with her music since experiencing her last project “Space 1.8” a couple summers ago. That’s what her music truly is, an experience. I will always enjoy jazz that is experimental and ambient. This newer album allowed me to view my day with open eyes. It made the leaves more colorful, the wind had entrancing patterns, and my breath felt settled. “Endlessness” will definitely take you away, but only if you’re open to the feeling.
‘The ReVe Festival 2022 - Birthday’ - Red Velvet
Being someone who dabbles in the world of KPop, I’ve heard a few of Red Velvet’s songs and thought they were really good! I’ve been meaning to listen to more songs from this group, since I think they have pleasing harmonies, unique production, and a lot of energy. I first discovered Red Velvet from the song “BYE BYE” on this EP, and it has remained on my playlist ever since. I decided to listen to this full record, and while not every song was for me, I’m definitely going to continue listening to their other projects moving forward!
Al-Bara’em - Al-Bara’em
I always love discovering new music from around the world, and the varieties of fun and entrancing Arabic tunes out there are some of my favorites! The history of this particular group goes back to the 1960s and 70s, although this EP was released on streaming around 2020-2021. Al-Bara’em (“The Blooms” in English) is a band of siblings which remains relevant with their heavy and rich past, which emerged great developments in Rock n Roll as we know it today. I highly recommend listening to their groovy songs and looking into their story, as it serves as a great reminder that music is one of the important ways that we mark space and time as humans.
Listening to the Sun - Andre 3000
This live album has been sitting in my YouTube Watch Later folder for months, and I finally experienced it over break. I recommend using this album as background for meditation, stretching, or any practice you prefer to help with relaxation and mindfulness. I transferred it to another folder to hold on to for any future such cases. When artists successfully experiment and take on new ways of creating, it’s always a lovely thing to see.
