BDMC Presents 2022 is scheduled to start at 4pm on Friday, April 15 in Dunn Meadow. Free, all-ages, no tickets required.

In a freshman year full of uncertainty, hard times, and isolation, Bloomington Delta Music Club was my lifeline. 2020 was an insanely difficult year for everyone, and I am one person of many who felt overwhelmed by the newness of college that year, as well as its unfortunate covid awkwardness. In an environment where making friends on your floor was incredibly difficult, and where you spent the majority of your time in a single room, BDMC offered me not just a respite from my mind, but a place to thrive musically, socially, and professionally. From day one, I knew what this club could do for someone because of what it did do for me. And since that very first rehearsal, I knew I wanted everyone else to have that chance.

I have a long, complicated, and beautiful relationship with music. Growing up in a family of musicians granted me many beautiful experiences, skills, and relationships. It provided equally unique and beautiful challenges, as well. It wasn’t until college, until BDMC, that I had the time and space to explore music entirely on my own terms. I felt immediately welcomed by the club’s dedication to being an open space for any musician of any caliber. The environment they had already built in that one year felt like a place I could call home. And it quickly became that. For the first time playing music, I felt as though I could be completely at ease.

When it comes to music, I am a perfectionist. But BDMC showed me something even more important in music: growth. And I am dedicated to that mission for every member. What you put into this club is what you get out of it, and if you really dedicate yourself, there are so many wonderful things to learn. For all the lessons the club taught me already, I know it has so many more in store.

So that is why I love this club, and that is why I hope you keep jamming along with us. I cannot wait to guide us all through the next two years, and I can’t wait to see where we as an organization go. But most importantly, I can’t wait to see where our members go.

It is officially the start of BDMC Presents week, our hallmark event that showcases everyone in the club with 6 full hours of non-stop music. All the hard work, dedication, and love for the music will be on full display. Come and enjoy it. Sit, listen, and experience music for music’s sake.

To the years ahead, and to a successful BDMC Presents!
